- The Atlantlans
The term Atlantlan; pronounced a-tlan-tlan; refers to the people. Atlantl; a tlan tl; to the islands they inhabit. Atlantl as a whole refers to the island of Atlantl and the islands Alzoraxe and Golancha; our Azores and Cape Verde respectfully. The name for their empire, Atlantis applies to the islands as a whole as their people.
The Atlantlan came from north-west Afrik; now the home of the Berbers; some 10,000 years ago, landing in Atlantl is the year <9,000 — 8,000 BC our time. By tradition they came in 6 fleets of dugout canoes, but it is now known that the migration actually took some 4 centuries and involved dozens of clans and tribes.
The first landings occurred in the north east corner of Atlantl, with a few taking place to the south along the east coast, and a couple to the west on the north coast.
The Atlantlan were a red skinned people, related to the Skraelings of Vargaard and Amazonia, and the Ægyptians. Apparently they were one of two clans who migrating back over the land of Chukchi instead of continuing on into what later became known as Vargaard. Later at the Nylle Delta they separated from the ancestors of the Ægyptians and continued on west. When the reached the shores of the Lantl Ocean off north west Afrik they appear to have settle down.
Their new neighbors didn’t like that.
For centuries the two clashed, maybe for as long as a millennium. Finally, around <9500 the first Atlantlan explorers travelled up and down the west Afrik coast looking for refuge, only to find none. It wasn’t until fishermen driven from shore by a storm returned to speak of a land with nobody living there that clan and tribal fathers saw hope. Craft were prepared, supplies gathered, and around <9300 the first colonist set sail for what would later be the island of Atlantl.
Not all made it, and it wasn’t until 9100 that the first successful settlements were established and word got back to their people in Afrik. In addition, the gods of Atlantl; as they were later known; now knew of these people, and were ready to lend a hand. For the gods of Atlantl needed help with their cephalopods and it looked like the humans would make good caretakers.
But that is all in the future, which we’ll get to later.
