Early in October I applied to vote in today’s election. No such luck. As of Monday at 6pm — when we get mail here at St. Vinnie’s — there was nothing from the San Diego Country Registrar of Voters. The only thing I can conclude is, somebody screwed up; maybe more that one. If the miscreant is just one person it could be…
- Somebody at the club house who forgot to put the application in the mail when he was supposed to.
- One Postal worker or another who did not handle the package properly.
- Someone at the Registrar of Voters for San Diego County who messed up.
Or it could be some combination of two screw ups or even all three.
Or, some nefarious plot to rig the vote.
No, not by messing with the ballots, but with processing voting applications. All you need is one person with a suspicious mind, and the processing of the paperwork could be delayed for days. Or maybe even weeks or months. Which means the applicant can’t vote on voting day.
Why do this?
To insure that the wrong people don’t vote. He might be a Clinton supporter or a Trump supporter, and good minded people can’t let the wrong people vote the wrong person into office. No, best to delay processing of the application until after the election in order to give good people the vote for the right person.
Or maybe it’s just a damn fool or two having all the responsibility of a teething puppy. But I like the conspiracy theory I came up with because it suits my sense of humor.
So, who were you kept from voting for today?
