Just thought I’d present my thinking on the matter of Mages and Priests in the DJ Guides and how a Persona qualifies for them;
Note first that the Guide in question has to have castings available. No castings, no practice of any sort. What are castings? I’m going to have to figure that out.
Even if castings are available that doesn’t mean that full practice is. Maybe nobody has the talent, maybe the gods are against it, or maybe everybody’s under a curse. It all depends on the guide and the setting.
But let’s say some Personae can be Full Practitioners, what are the basic qualifications?
Those are first a minimum trait. Then making a successful check against an Attribute relevant to the Trait
Now should the Persona qualify to have full practice he gains certain benefits. Exactly which ones depends on the Guide in question, and on what he is a Full Practitioner in.
Please note that there may be exceptions in a particular guide. In the far future world of Abyss—far future—there may be casters roaming around. In fact an Abyss HP may learn how to cast, with the Guide’s permission and a period of role playing—there is a price for this sort of thing.
All I’m going to do is to offer basic guidelines, it’s up to the individual Guides as to what they will allow exceptions in, why, and how.
Now I’ve got more work to do, and I want to try out Word 16 where blog posting is concerned. I’ll be back.
