On Earth her name is Alice. She is a data entry clerk for a chemical firm.
On Ærth her name is Shannon and she lives in the city of Leeds in Albion. She is a Wisewoman (Wicce if you prefer) and she was born a slave to a Merchant in Leeds. Over the years she has gained a reputation and some degree in status in her community. To the point that today her master has invited her into his office to hear his announcement.
As she enters his office much to her surprise she is asked to take a seat. "Shannon," he informs her, "With this signature..." which he then adds to the paper before him... "you are now a free woman."
He presents her with the writ of manumission adding, "Your fiance, Mark, has his own now, and so you are both free to marry whom you wish. Though be assured that I approve of your union."
Sitting back in his chair he continues, saying, "Mark is being promoted to lieutenant in my guard. You are being promoted to assistant Herbalist in my medical staff. You are not my property anymore. You are now my employee and you still have work to do. In addition you now have a house to pay for, with an attached shop. This is not a gift, it is a loan, and the two of you will repay it. The two of you have shown you are responsible and capable souls, able to handle matters such as this.
"This I'm doing because I know you're worth it, both of you. And that as freemen you are of greater value than you could ever have as slaves."
Presenting her with a cup of wine he finishes with, "Now don't encourage me to make this punishment even worse, this is not the end of my vengeance, for you and Mark are both looking forward to even greater responsibilities in the days to come."
Bringing to her feet he guides her to the door and as he shows her through he ask, "Any ideas on your family name, now that you can have one?"
Shannon thinks about it awhile, then says, "I was thinking 'Larson', our clan name before Great Grand sold my Grandmother to pay off a gambling debt."
With a smile he informs her, "That's my clan name, and I'm glad I could correct a grave mistake my great uncle made so long ago."
After a short pause he adds, "Of course, that was the main reason, my cousin."
They part, and in haze of fear and a glow she bounces off to her new house and her soon to be husband. Mark was not going to have a quiet night's sleep, and they would be loud that afternoon.
Finis: And that in short is an example of what Mythus could be like, if you don't get all hung up on it being a game.
