A population of a billion would (maybe?) solve all the country’s problems.

Problem, our population is going to fall whether we like it or not. The way things are going now what we’re going to see is not population growth, but population redistribution. And that includes China. Last I heard the Chinese may well lose half her population, and that means the Chinese are going to see an effective decline in a lot of areas. Anybody want to see any sort of economic growth they are going to need to see economic growth where the individual is concerned, and not in the aggregate. A billion Americans? Let’s try a couple hundred million, maybe even just 100 million, and that’s going to mean a Detroit on a national scale.
