On June 20th I’ll be seeing a nephrologist about my kidneys. According to an earlier blood test they have problems. I’m thinking that maybe an accident I had back when I was 14 may have something to do with this.
This has also given me an idea one could use in RPGs. Namely, incomplete healing. For some reason a character cannot heal completely naturally, but need medical care mundane or magickal to do so. How would you handle this?
According to this post in Futurism the folks at Disney have come up with a jacket that can simulate things like hugs and punches so people can experience them while playing a VR game.
This reminded me of Temple Grandin and her work regarding autistics and the need we sometimes have to be, in a word, cuddled. What I’m thinking is that Disney’s new jacket for VR entertainment could be readily adapted to use by autistics as a way to reassure them. I know I could use one from time to time.
Just remember that there are always many ways to employ a tool.
While at the National City CA Walmart I had an incident. I was getting ready for a night on the street when my weakness and unsteadiness said I had to sit down on the floor. They called the paramedics and they took me to Paradise Valley Hospital.
They did a comprehensive exam and I learned I’m going through kidney failure and that I have atrial fibrillation. And that means I’m now an inpatient.
For that we can thank the Alpha Project of San Diego, though I doubt they are going to appreciate my “effusive praise” 🙂
