In DJ the energy that powers magick is called heka. Heka comes from the Egyptian and means “soul strength”. Equivalents to heka include mana, vril, orgone, quintessence, vitality, and baraka. Other than baraka the heka equivalents are cruder, rougher sorts, representing a less refined understanding of magick.
By and large a point of, say, vril is equal to 5 points of heka. For a caster or the like to create an effect with mana for instance takes some 5 times the energy of one who understands and can employ heka. So while a Grade I Casting takes 20 points of mana to cast, that mana represents 100 points of heka.
Which term a guide uses depends on how well developed magick is in that milieu. In such as Abyss and Unhallowed terms such as mana or orgone are used. In Mythus and Changeling the study and understanding of magick has advanced enough the practitioners of magick know and understanding enough of the science and art to understand that magickal energy can be used more discriminatingly
